Mentor Monday – Mark Davis

Mark Davis has spent the last 4+ years as a Principal Engineer in the Silicon Optimization group at Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he architects custom silicon and software solutions for AWS’s data centers. Previously he was CTO and Chief Architect at a startup Calxeda that raised $100M from Tier 1 VCs developing data center focused custom silicon. Davis led specification and architecture for all three generations of Calxeda’s ARM server SOC products, including SOC, software, and systems. He has held leadership roles at 6 startups (co-founded 2), as well as leading technology companies including Amazon, HP, and TI. He has a broad technology background spanning data mining and machine learning, operating system development, networking, embedded development, IOS mobile development, as well as custom hardware design. He has led patent and IP activities at several startups and is an inventor on 47 issued patents.

Mark Davis holds a degree in MSEE from SMU and a BSEE, BSCS from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.  With Mark Davis’ impressive years of experience with several different aspects of technology and with his authoritative positions, Davis is a great resource for IncubatorCTX members.
